Udi’s at Pizza Hut!

Awesome news for NOBREAD pizza lovers! Pizza Hut has collaborated with Udi’s, the popular GF baked goods company, to create a GF pizza that launches today! The Udi’s crust can be topped with cheese and pepperoni and can be found at 2,400 Pizza Hut locations across the country with more locations coming. Pizza Hut has made sure there will be no cross-contamination, with special procedures to ensure your crust doesn’t come in contact with flour. This is a big step towards gluten-free pizza being available everywhere! RECIPE

I’m so happy to share a special NOBREAD recipe from our friend Mary Catherine who makes small-batch ice cream in NYC! Her flavors are unreal, like Mean Green Sorbet, Hot Chocolate, and Chocolate Covered Strawberry! Mary Catherine created a special NOBREAD flavor with GF peanut butter cookies! NOBREAD Peanut Butter Cookie Ice Cream

Time: About 20 minutes plus 6-12 hours of cooling

and chilling in the refrigerator

 Yield: About 1 1/2 pints

You’ll need:

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

⅔ cup sugar, divided

2 pinches of sea salt

5 large egg yolks

5 GF peanut butter cookies

1. In a small pot, simmer cream, milk, 1/3 cup of sugar and salt until sugar

completely dissolves (about 5 minutes). Remove the pot from heat.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar.

Continually whisking, slowly whisk the hot cream into the yolks, then

transfer the yolk and hot cream mixture back into the pot. Return the pot to

medium-low heat and gently cook until mixture is thick enough to coat the

back of a spoon (5-10 minutes).

3. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl. Cool mixture to room

temperature. Cover and chill at least 6 hours or overnight.

4. Churn in an ice cream machine according to manufacturer’s instructions.

After 15 minutes or so, break up the peanut butter cookies and add them to

the freeze bowl. Let incorporate for a minute longer. Serve directly from the

machine for soft serve, or store in freezer until hardened.

If you’re the kind of person who is constantly on the run, and always looking for a quick, healthy snack that you can grab on the go, then I have the product for you! Battenkill Brittle is a low sugar, high protein snack that is especially great when you need a little energy boost. I had the opportunity to sample some of the delicious treat and I’m so excited to report that Battenkill Brittle has become one of my go to snacks. Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking District is home to awesome shops and even better food. Generally, the restaurants and stalls at the Market are outposts of popular NYC restaurants, as having a location in popular/crowded markets is the perfect way for restaurants to increase their presence. Chelsea Market is crowded and lively, and given the Market’s rise in popularity over the last few years, the NOBREAD team decided it was time to go on an adventure to find the best gluten free eats!

The Filling Station has giant jugs of olive oils, vinegars, and salts. It’s a great place to buy some NOBREAD approved cooking supplies for yourself or as a gift! The purple jug is full of merlot sea salt- how fancy is that?

Unsatisfied with just one breakfast, we hopped up on a stool at Bar Suzette and ordered a gluten-free crepe!

Bellies full, we took the elevator upstairs to Inglot Cosmetics and ogled over their amazing eyeshadows. Next it was time to scope out some lunch spots!

Takumi Taco has a separate gluten-free menu! They serve Mexican-Asian fusion cuisine; my favorite were the tuna tacos on corn tortillas. It’s definitely worth a stop! Next, we wandered around The Lobster Place.

It’s a marketplace where you can buy lunch or take home a giant fish for your evening’s dinner party.

I am always looking for new healthy snacks; there is something so satisfying about a bowl of crunchy and salty chips or crackers. However, it’s tough to find snacks that are not only healthy, but gluten free, too! I first discovered Polvilho Bakery on a visit to FeelFood, and I couldn’t get enough! The puffs are NOBREAD approved and made with cassava flour; a Brazilian staple that Polvilho creator, Daniela, is introducing to the American snack scene! The puffs are super light and airy and almost dissolve in your mouth! They are also all natural and low in calories, and come in plain, parmesan, flax seed & coconut oil, and cacao flavors. The parmesan flavor reminds me of a grown-up, healthy Cheeto! I also love the flax and coconut flavor; the hint of coconut is so delicious and perfectly savory. The cacao puffs might become my new late night NOBREAD snack, as they remind me of the cocopuff cereal I used to eat when I was a kid! The puffs are made in Brooklyn and you can order them online (link below) and have them shipped anywhere in the US.
