Conosci is located in Mt. Vernon Triangle, inside the restaurant of Alta Strada, giving it the hidden speakeasy feel it so deserves. As you are escorted through a hidden hallway, you enter Conosci, a small and beautifully decorated space with chandeliers, candles, tables, a bar cart, and the chef’s counter. If you plan on visiting Conosci, I suggest making a reservation and asking to sit at the chef’s counter. The restaurant only holds about 30 guests, making it feel exclusive, and the chef’s counter gives you the ability to watch the chefs cook and interact with them, asking them questions about the cuisine.

There is also no menu. You choose from their tasting options, each varying in price, and have the option for a wine pairing as well. It is up to the chef on what you get served, depending on allergies, food preferences, and the freshest ingredients of the season. This is perfect for those that are gluten-free because they make everything custom. I went with someone who didn’t eat seafood, so they also were able to customize the tasting menus for the both of us, making them similar in appearance but different in the ingredients being used based on dietary preferences.

Each dish is presented in a unique way and is beautifully plated. We received the oyster dish in what looked like a bird’s nest and was served with dry ice on the bottom, so it created a fog experience before we ate. Since the restaurant is small, there is no real “kitchen” so the chef’s use a lot of raw ingredients in their dishes. So if you like raw fish and seafood, this is definitely the place for you. But again, if you don’t particularly enjoy eating raw food, they will customize the tasting menu to your preferences. The unique flavors, rare ingredients, and combinations makes your tastes buds swoon and if you are a foodie, sitting at the chef’s counter gives you the ability to watch how the dishes are made and even ask the chef questions.

This restaurant can be on the pricier side – they suggest the $85 tasting menu to enjoy the whole experience – but this is definitely a special occasion restaurant. Perfect for romantic date nights and client dinners, this is the restaurant you take someone whom you are trying to impress. Conosci is a “hidden” gem that should no longer be a secret and I can’t wait to go back. If this review and the pictures don’t convince you to try Conosci, go check it out for yourself. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
