So here's what we think...

Can you believe it took me a year of living in Los Angeles to get me to go down to Newport Beach?! I know, it’s shocking. I’m even more ashamed of myself after realizing it is such a quick drive. The ambiance at Oak Grill is adorable. Located inside the Island Hotel (which I hear turns into quite the scene late night), Oak Grill is both inside and outside. The tables outside feel more like lounges than tables, and having the pool and outdoor bar in sight totally sets the mood. The menu was very standard American, which was great because it meant there were many options I could try! We ordered the ceviche to start. Dressed in a nice citrus flavor and finished with puff rice, the ceviche is a perfect light appetizer. It was also served with plantain chips, which I love! Next up was the Lobster Chopped Salad with corn, avocado, basil, tomatoes, red onions, and lemon tarragon dressing, because I always have to order lobster when I see it on a menu. We also shared the seared salmon (delicious) and rounded out our order with a side of truffle fries! Oak Grill serves gluten-free pasta, so we couldn’t leave without ordering the Gluten Free Seafood Pasta. I also avoid dairy when I can so we had our pasta sautéed in garlic and olive oil, and it was SO delicious. I practically licked the bowl clean!

With plenty of gluten-free options and a cool vibe, it’s not surprising that lunch at Oak Grill is a thing to do while visiting Newport. The Island Hotel is also located at Fashion Island, so I definitely recommend checking out some of the shops after! Well after you go for a swim, that is…
