So here's what we think...

Whenever I visit a new city, one of the first things I do is seek out the city’s best gluten-free bakery. Introducing Beyond Bread, London’s go-to bakery for gluten-free baked goods and of course, gluten-free bread! I had the opportunity to visit the bakery this week and meet with the owner, and I’m happy to report that not only is the food incredibly delicious, but they have many menu items that are also dairy-free, sugar-free, and YEAST-free!

Beyond Bakery opened in Charlotte Place about two years ago, and a second location opened on Upper Street six months ago. BB offers several different kinds of gluten-free bread, which is VERY uncommon, as most cafes and bakeries offer just one GF alternative! Bread options include Pumpernickel, White Sourdough, Soft Bun, Brioche, Ciabatta, Baguette, and Seeded Loaf. One last bread offered, which also happens to be my favorite, is the Round Sourdough which is yeast-free, nutritious & full of flavor! I for one haven’t had Round Loaf bread since going gluten-free, so this bread brought me back to my childhood! When it comes to the pastries, I don’t even know where to begin! You must order the gluten and dairy-free chocolate walnut brownie, which is also sugar-free (sweetened with maple syrup) and tastes like chocolate fudge! The GF Cinnamon Roll and Raspberry Danish are also super popular, and photogenic if I may add, and they are definite must-tries. Given my love for breakfast and brunch, I had to try the gluten- and dairy-free blueberry, raspberry, and chocolate muffins! These muffins taste SO fresh that you would never even know they are gluten-free! After tasting all of my sweets I was too full to indulge in the cafe’s sandwich and brunch entrees, such as the gluten-free avocado toast and quinoa and sweet potato falafels with tahini sauce and pickled cucumber on ciabatta, but I will absolutely by back next trip to try them… and to pick up more sweets, of course!

With a cozy vibe and delicious scent, this cafe is not only popular for grab-and-go items, but it is also a popular destination to sit and stay. Beyond Bread bakery proves that going gluten-free doesn’t mean you have to go taste-free, and I’m excited to watch the bakery grow and spread to more locations!
