I’ve been hearing about Maysville for a while, as they are known to have an awesome power lunch scene. I mean, a lunch pre-fixe where your dessert option is a scoop of ice cream or a shot of Ezra Brooks White Label?? My kind of restaurant! Maysville definitely has one of the coolest cocktail bars in the area and that’s saying a lot given its proximity to The NoMad Hotel. I went to Maysville for the first time this week and left amazed at the cocktail selection and even more impressed by all of the nobread approved food and drink options to be had!…
To start, my table ordered the squash soup and mixed greens salad. Both of these appetizers are gluten free and the squash soup can even be made vegan if you ask for it nocream. For my main course, I went with the arctic char on corn chowder with clams and celery root. The char was good, but SMALL, so if you are looking for something more filling I recommend the chicken under a brick served with carrots, bacon, and pickled onions. Popular dishes at Maysville also include the arctic char tartare (gluten free), the shrimp toast (gluten free if you ask for notoast), and the crispy grits with country ham (NOT gluten free but can me made GF). For dinner, the whole smoked trout is gluten free and very popular, as is the long island striped bass. Classic American fare plus classic American cocktails is how I would sum up this 2013 hotspot.
I enjoyed my meal at Maysville, and I am intrigued to go back again for a drink at the bar. Nobread approved food, an extensive cocktail list, and a cool scene; I was very happy with my Maysville experience… just next time I’ll have to order more food!
