The bustling Chicago Loop is filled with grab-and-go and fast-casual lunch spots, but nothing is quite like Brightwok Kitchen. The welcoming vibe, great tunes and easy communal seating make it a great place for a quick bite or a long lunch with friends or colleagues.

For starters I had the edamame hummus topped with a fermented chili oil which added the perfect amount of spice to an already tasty and unique hummus. Next up I created a bowl with Thai Basil sauce, chicken, onions, carrots, peppers, broccoli and brown rice. With a choice of 10 seasonal vegetables, 3 proteins and 7 sauces, Brightwok’s bowls are completely customized to your liking. The homemade Thai Basil sauce was fantastic and brought out the flavors of the extremely fresh vegetables. But, I couldn’t try only one sauce, so I made another bowl with the Adams Street Teriyaki. Gluten-free eaters, this teriyaki is really good!! I can’t resist a crispy egg so I added one, along with edamame, local peppers, carrots, onions and white rice. The slightly runny, togarashi spiced egg was a perfect compliment to the meal.

If you’re still a little hungry, the sinful banana chips are a fantastic alternative to chips. Do yourself a favor and order a large to last for the rest of the day at your desk! I washed my meal down with The BWK Brew, a custom-made ginger beer from local soda company, Filbert’s Soda Co. The spicy ginger perfectly complemented my meal and provided something extra unique that you don’t find in the Loop.

I can’t wait to try all the sauces and combinations at Brightwok Kitchen! With everything gluten-free, BWK is a great, SAFE, healthy and unique lunch option in the Loop. PS- it’s open on Saturdays and they deliver too!
