So here's what we think...

Owen + Alchemy is one of my favorite spots in Logan Square, and its aesthetic speaks for itself. You will fall in love with their hipster vibes, and their selection of incredible local juices that are served in a glass bottle. From the green moss wall on the front window to the eclectic art scattered throughout, O+A offers delicious, healthy eats and a low key atmosphere. Inside the juice shop, all decor is black and has a dark, moody feel…

Most everything you find at Owen + Alchemy is available in a gluten-free version. All juices, small dishes and snacks at O+A are GF except for the seasonal sandwich and the oats in the Ba bowl. Since O+A loves to focus on seasonality, I tried S1 and S2, their two seasonal juices at the moment. S1 contained beet, apple, cucumber, carrot, ginger and lime. It was super easy to drink if you’re not a big juice person. S2 had grape, celery, vanilla, lime and acai. I loved S2! It had an amazingly addictive flavor, almost like an adult, healthy grape juice. Concord grapes have a very short season, so I was glad to be able to get my hands on S2 while I could!

I also had the S3 salad, which was roasted and pickled cauliflower, kale, raw crimini, almond, salsa verde. It had very bold flavors, with various textures that made the dish one of my favorites. Lastly, I enjoyed an off-the-menu dish – the coconut and heirloom tomato soup. This was made from local peppers, lime, cilantro and radish leaf, which gave it a strong, yet refreshing flavor.

Owen + Alchemy is open all day, so it’s perfect to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I find myself craving a juice after a hard workout, or a flavorful salad for lunch. The chef loves to incorporate seasonal dishes into the menu. He believes in buying all local produce and at peak times. The menu changes frequently and dishes are only offered for a short period of time, highlighting the ingredient’s seasonality. Next time I find myself at O+A I would love to try the Ba or Ka bowl, 25 juice (lemon, cucumber, rosemary, raw agave, activated charcoal) and 51 almond milk. Be sure to ask for the Ba bowl with no oats! If you find yourself in the Logan Square neighborhood, pay a visit to Owen + Alchemy. You don’t want to miss their beautiful packaging and high quality ingredients.
