When you sit down at The Addiction Bistro, you’ll see two headings at the top of the menu: 1) “Everything is homemade” and 2) “ALL our menu items (including desserts) are available GLUTEN-FREE.” I was sure there was a misunderstanding– this looked like a menu for regular people, full of hot dogs, burgers, and pasta. Before I could flag down a waiter to express my confusion, the co-founder of the restaurant walked up to cheerfully greet me and give me some information about the restaurant. It turns out the co-founders of the restaurant are both gluten-intolerant and have customized the ENTIRE menu to be safe for gluten-free folks. Is this a dream?…
To keep it short and sweet, you can eat ANYTHING on this menu. And when I say “anything,” I don’t mean the salad (hold the croutons) that you may normally experience when dining out. They offer gluten-free hot dog buns, hamburger buns, pasta, gnocchi and the list goes on. Their toasters, pans and fryers are completely safe from cross-contamination, meaning that you can indulge in foods you might typically miss out on (think buffalo wings, French fries and even….FRIED CHICKEN). I could spend an entire paragraph talking about all the dessert options that are NOBREAD approved, but I’ll leave you with a few key highlights. They make their ice cream from scratch and among the most popular flavors are Red Velvet, S’more and Crème Brulee. Thy have a gluten free dessert that involves warm cookie dough. And I can’t forget to mention the gluten-free cheesecake, brownies, cupcakes and pies. So I hope you are putting your sneakers on and sprinting there… right now.
It may come as a surprise that everything on the menu is completely and utterly delicious. Because the chef makes everything by hand, ingredients are fresh and prepared to perfection. The burgers and hot dogs are a huge hit, as there are a variety of homemade condiments for you to choose from. This is a perfect place to bring your non-GF friends because everyone will have unlimited options to choose from. I stop here for dinner whenever I feel like I’ve been deprived of “normal people” food for too long… and I don’t hesitate for a second to indulge in buffalo wings, mac n’ cheese or a juicy burger (don’t hold the bun, thank you very much).
