Before coming to LA, I heard amazing things about all of LA’s best restaurants in West Hollywood and on the West Side. However, it wasn’t until I arrived in LA that I started hearing about up and coming Downtown LA. Once avoided and essentially desolate, Downtown Los Angeles is incredibly up and coming, and the new foodie hotspot! DTLA is the home to Alma, Bestia, Bar Ama and more, and I’m excited to watch the area grow and develop. More importantly, I’m excited to find some Downtown cafes that I can hit and post up as I NOBREAD for the day!…
Daily Dose Cafe is adorable and one of my DTLA lunch spots. The cafe itself is tiny and there is just enough space for a counter and kitchen, so all seats are outside in the alley! Long picnic tables fill the alley, and Daily Dose is a breath of fresh air in busy Downtown. Everything on Daily Dose’s menu is gluten free or can be made gluten free. To start I dabbled in the kale salad with apple and citrus vinaiggrette. This salad is small, and the perfect starter dish. Next I ordered the Margot. This dish includes 2 eggs, avocado, jalapenos, chives, and hot sauce with a side of arugula. Eggs and avocado are two of my favorite foods, and I love that this breakfast item is served all day. Again, the dish is light, so I recommend supplementing your meal with the kale salad, fruit salad, or side of Japanese yams. Sandwiches comprise a majority of the lunch menu, and althugh there is no gluten free bread at Daily Dose, you’re not missing out! All sandwiches can be prepared as a salad! I ordered the Farmer Salad with roasted squash, guacamole, Japanese yams, and a veggie patty… this salad is filling and delicious! Lastly, as if I hadn’t ordered enough food, I topped my meal off with the gluten and dairy free chia pudding.
Daily Dose Cafe is the perfect place to grab a quick bite with a friend, host your next coffee meeting, or accomplish some work as you dine solo. What’s better than good food, WiFi, and a little afternoon sun? Daily Dose is definitely a gem and I’m glad I found it. Plenty of gluten free options will have me back in no time!
