If you told me years ago that Downtown would be Los Angeles’ hottest area for restaurants and the most up and coming area, I never would have believed you! But sure enough, it is! Downtown is BOOMING with new, tasty restaurants! From LA’s most popular restaurants Bestia and Broken Spanish, to crowd favorites Petty Cash and Cafe Gratitude, Downtown is the place to be. Well, Fritzi DTLA, sister restaurant to Fritzi at The Grove, has taken note of this trend and found itself a home in the area!…

Unlike Fritzi Dog at The Grove, Fritzi DTLA doesn’t have gluten-free buns or bread for sandwiches, but that’s no problem at all! Fritzi DTLA is famous for their chicken dishes! ‘Extra tasty’ chicken dishes should I say, thanks to its buttered skin. In the mood for chicken? Great. Here’s how it works! Select 1/4 chicken or 1/2 chicken, and accompany it with one potato side and one vegetable side. We all know that I can’t resist potatoes, and the three potato options at Fritzi are gluten-free and literally incredible. The potato waffle… yes, WAFFLE… is gluten-free and an absolute must try! For those who want to go the more classic route, the tots and fries are delicious, too! I’m a veggie girl, and I was so excited to see that the vegetable options included brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and beets. You can’t go wrong with any of these! I also highly recommend any of the salads. The kale caesar salad is gluten-free when you ask for no breadcrumbs, and my friend exclaimed it was the best kale salad he’s ever had! I opted for the forbidden rice and quinoa salad, and it was SO tasty! The combination of hazelnuts, quinoa, summer squash, and sherry vinaigrette worked together incredibly well! For the vegetarians/vegans out there, all of the potato/vegetable sides can be ordered on their own, and the salads can be made without the protein too!

With SO many gluten-free options, Fritzi needs to be added to your shortlist, if you haven’t been already. The restaurant is super casual and service is quick, so if you work in the area, this should absolutely be your go-to lunch spot! Since Fritzi DTLA is similar to Fritzi at The Grove, I knew I would love the family’s newest addition, and I’m excited to see their success!
