‘Green Peas Casual Food’ is probably not the most enticing restaurant name; however, one visit to the cafe has me thinking it is one of the more underrated restaurants in Culver City! With a giant chalkboard menu filled with a large variety of healthy, unique, and gluten-free dishes, this place is right up NOBREAD’s alley! Green Peas is very NOBREAD friendly, offering gluten free bread, pizza crust and more! They also have a ton of vegan options and most dishes on the menu can be made vegan upon request…
Green Peas is my ideal spot for a casual lunch. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free except for the vegan “meats” (like the Gardein chicken and steak) and the tortillas. The first thing I noticed at Green Peas was the menu variety. They have almost every type of sandwich and salad, from chicken curry, to prosciutto, to eggplant parmesan, and everything in between. I ordered the chicken avocado kale salad with artichokes and a homemade dressing. It even came with a side of delicious vegan black bean soup. I was thrilled with my order– it was healthy but satisfying! Green Peas also makes an amazing gluten free pizza and any of the flavorful pizza varieties can be made gluten free or vegan by request. I had a tough time deciding but the “Green Peas Pizza” sounded heavenly. The words “Healthy” and “Pizza” don’t usually go together, but this pizza, topped with fresh oregano, basil, green peppers, zucchini, cilantro, parsley, scallions, pumpkin seeds, spinach, fresh tomatoes and vegan daiya cheese, was one of the healthier pizzas I have ever had.
Green Peas Casual Food serves casual, affordable meals that are great to take on the go, or to sit with and enjoy. It is flavorful, healthy food that is perfect for a low-maintenance but satisfying lunch. I was blown away by their variety of gluten-free meals, and cannot wait to go back and try more of the delicious menu options!
