So here's what we think...

Santa Monica is full of restaurants; several chain restaurants as well as quintessential Los Angeles establishments including Michael’s, BOA, and Rustic Canyon grace the area, making the neighborhood a popular dining destination. With so many great restaurants around, it can be hard to choose which restaurant to hit, and even harder to find a go-to neighborhood spot! Insert M Street Kitchen. Located on Main Street and just blocks from the water and the best SM bars, M Street Kitchen is the perfect restaurant to go to before a night on the town or with your family/friends for a nice, yet still casual dining experience…

I need to start my post by mentioning the service. When I ordered, I told my waitress I was gluten free, and I was amazed at her response. She THANKED ME for telling her, and exclaimed that she will absolutely be letting the kitchen know. This kind of service is what keeps customers coming back in time and time again.
To start, as much as you want to order the nachos, unfortunately none of the “starters” are gluten free! This can be quite devastating, especially when you are dining with a large group, but there are several other options for the NOBREAD crowd. For the sushi lovers, the vegetarian maki is gluten free, and for the veggie lovers, the kale crunch, spring peas, and grilled asparagus are all NOBREAD approved. All main courses are gluten free except for the fried chicken, and I highly recommend the salmon. Yes, I’m salmon-biased, but the salmon entree with chickpeas and artichokes is delicious! Lastly, given that we are in Los Angeles, taco hotspot of the United States, the tacos are a great meal option, too. My friends ordered the grilled fish tacos and I was impressed by the presentation. The tacos are served fajita-style… meat/veggies/garnishes on one plate and corn tortillas on the other. I kind of like the concept of making your own taco!
Although I haven’t been to the restaurant for brunch, I hear great things. The egg white omelette with cherry tomato and avocado salsa sounds healthy and right up my alley, and the breakfast tacos/Mexican hashbrowns sound unique and worth a try! I definitely recommend M Street Kitchen, and I will absolutely be back.
