Melrose is one of the most popular avenues in Los Angeles, and with classic restaurants like Blu Jam, and hot new restaurants like Spartina and Wolf, it’s no wonder why! I had the opportunity to check out Wolf this week, and I’m excited to announce that Wolf is a nice upscale addition to the Melrose scene…
The space is small, and the menu is smaller, but you won’t be disappointed! For starters, essentially the ENTIRE menu is gluten-free, so you pretty much can’t go wrong with your order! My friend and I opted for the Baby Kale Salad, Burnt Carrots and Hamachi Crudo to start, and the King Salmon and Mushroom Risotto as our mains. The crudo was outstanding, and the Baby Kale Salad was my favorite dish of the night. It was so incredibly flavorful, filled with pickled asian pear, cucumber, dried apricot, almond dressing, and crispy quinoa; we basically licked the bowl clean! The burnt carrots were also outstanding, and set on top of a charcoal cream (made from coconut so it was dairy-free, too). I take activated charcoal daily, so the fact that I could include charcoal in my food was amazing! For sides, we were torn between the Brussels Sprouts and the Crispy Potatoes, as we had heard such great things about both! We ordered both, and they were INCREDIBLE! The potatoes were fried, but in no way tasted heavy or greasy! I am addicted to Brussels sprouts, and the sprouts at Wolf are dressed in a gluten-free fish caramel, so as you can imagine I ate the whole dish! For those of you interested in the broccoli, this dish is gluten-free when you ask for no croutons.
The dinner was absolutely delicious, and I hear brunch is great, too! It’s pretty nice that I live just steps away from Wolf, because that means I will absolutely be back in no time. I highly recommend checking this spot out!
