I’m in heaven. MEATBALL heaven! As the gluten-free crowd is well aware, meatballs have breadcrumbs about 99% of the time, and therefore they are not gluten-free. Prior to my London trip I saw pictures on Instagram of the delicious and unique meatballs offered at Balls & Company and assumed I wouldn’t be able to try them! Well, my mind was blown when I heard the majority of the menu is gluten-free, and I lined up a meeting at the restaurant for the next day…
At Balls & Company, all of the meatballs are gluten-free except for the pork and short rib. This means the quinoa (great for vegetarians), chicken, and salmon are all fare game! A salmon meatball?! You better believe it! The gluten-free meatballs are made with X instead of breadcrumbs. So here’s how it works: you first pick a ball and then pick a sauce! The tomato, pesto, and romesco are all gluten-free. I opted for salmon meatballs and tomato sauce, and my friends went with the chicken/pesto combo and the quinoa/romesco. The balls are small, which is great for those of us who lack portion control, and it also leaves room to order a few sides! The polenta chips are an absolute MUST! I literally ate the whole dish. Given I’ve eaten French fries just about every day since coming to London, the change of starch was very refreshing. We also ordered the butternut squash and it was roasted to perfection.
With an amazing location right in SoHo, this little restaurant gets a great crowd and has a cool vibe. It’s the perfect spot to hit for a low-key lunch with friends or for a few meatballs and cocktails before a night out. (I recommend the margarita). I will absolutely be back my next time in London!
