Located in Montauk, South Edison is an adorable restaurant just steps away from the beach. Known for their delicious seafood and ambiance, South Edison is one of the area’s most popular, yet underrated restaurants! I had the opportunity to try the restaurant for the first time this week, and I’m happy to say I had a wonderful dining experience. Cute interior, friendly staff, and gluten-friendly cuisine in one of my favorite beach towns… I can’t imagine anything better!…
The food is delicious and ordering gluten-free is a synch at South Edison; all GF items are noted on the menu, which made my job incredibly easy, and the staff was well-versed in allergens and ingredients in each dish. To start, my guest and I ordered the octopus tacos, fluke crude, and romaine salad. The octopus tacos were very unique and one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, and the romaine salad with crisp brussels sprouts was probably our favorite dish of the night! I’m not an oyster person, but if you are, oysters are another signature South Edison dish and they can be seen on just about every table in the restaurant. For entrees, I went with the sea scallops on top of glass noodles served with mushrooms and brussels, and my guest ordered the short rib. Both entrees were gluten free, and the short rib was incredibly flavorful and tender! To complete your meal, I highly recommend ordering a side or two; the truffle fries, rock shrimp, shishito peppers, and street corn are all GF, and the perfect supplement to your meal.
With a great atmosphere and delicious food, South Edison is the perfect place for your next date night or dinner with parents. If you go during the day, try and grab one of the patio tables out front. I mean, there’s nothing better than fresh seafood and fresh air!
