Now that the company has gone public and we’ve scooped up some shares, it’s time to check out the NOBREAD options at Shake Shack as it expands to London and beyond! With several locations in London, Shake Shack has taken over Covent Garden, Tottenham Court, and Westfield Stratford. Going gluten-free can be pretty tough at Shake Shack, so I couldn’t be happier to report our GF finds…
The Shake Shack burger, in its simplest form is 100% gluten-free, so if you are in the mood for a burger, order the hamburger wrapped in lettuce OR with a gluten-free bun, which is now stocked at most locations! All of the burgers can be made gluten-free, EXCEPT for the veggie (shroom) burger, which has breadcrumbs. I love the ShackBurger with no bun, which is a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and their signature ShackSauce! The cheese and the ShackSauce are subject to cross contamination, so if you are sensitive you will have to sit this out. Make it a double and add bacon if you’re really hungry… But leave room for fries! Crinkle fries are the way to go! Unfortunately, the cheese on the cheese fries and the fries themselves are subject to cross contamination, so again if you’re sensitive, sit these out. If you’re more of a hot dog person, then you have to try the Shack-cago dog, wrapped in lettuce with no bun, of course. This dog comes with relish, onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper, celery salt, and mustard! It’s so good, you won’t miss the bun… I promise!
Dessert at Shake Shack is a must; the frozen custard is gluten-free and you can turn the treat into a milkshake, or eat it in a cup with toppings like chocolate toffee, marshmallows, peanut butter, and whipped cream. Several Shake Shack’s in the states now serve GF buns, so we’re excited for the gluten-free buns to make their way over to Europe!
