Cafe Pacifico is a Mexican restaurant located off the main fair way in the heart of Covent Garden. There is no specific gluten-free menu, however our waiter kindly ran through the gluten free options available…
Whilst we umm’d and arr’d over what to have, we enjoyed some corn chips with tomato salsa, which had a spicy kick to it. One thing to note is the corn chips are subject to cross contamination.
We shared the pulled pork tacos – made gluten-free by corn tortillas for flour. The tacos were served with black beans, salsa, and sweet potato chips (these also have a risk of cross contamination). The three tacos were generously filled with slow-cooked pork and red pickled cabbage. Sweet potato fries are my favourite and these did not disappoint – a must try!
As a main, we shared the chicken fajitas; these were made gluten-free by omitting the traditional seasonings and requesting corn tortillas as opposed to flour. The chicken was served on a sizzling skillet with colourful capsicums and onions. The corn tortillas were warm and served with a selection of salsa’s and guacamole.
There are several dishes at Cafe Pacifico that contain gluten when you wouldn’t necessarily expect it, so remember to make it clear to your waiter that you are gluten-free so they can adjust your order to make it NOBREAD-friendly!
