Who knew a trip to the post office could be so fun? Post office turned restaurant, Manhattan Beach Post, ditched the government workers (at least they weren’t as bad as the DMV employees!) and the long lines and decided to serve food instead of mail. Okay, well, to be honest they still have long lines (I’m looking at you, weekend brunch) but we can’t blame them for that – the food is just too darn good! …
MB Post is a beautiful restaurant steps away from the sand, and with the big glass doors open at the front you can feel the ocean breeze throughout the restaurant. I love the way they’ve maintained the structure and theme of the old post office – they have mailboxes on walls throughout the restaurant and they even deliver the menus in envelopes to your table. This place is one of my faves and I think brunch here is the perfect way to start a beach day. And, you guessed it, they have gluten free options aplenty! When I came in this past weekend I tried the Ruby grapefruit brûlée – with the torched sugar and lemongrass syrup it feels like you’re eating a decadent dessert, but it’s actually pretty healthy! I also tried the Cheesy Eggs which were, without a doubt, the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. The Emmental cheese added an incredible flavor. On a previous visit I also tried the bacon, which is seasoned with rosemary, brown sugar, and chili – so delicious. And don’t forget a cocktail – the Passionfruit Mojito slushie I tried was light and refreshing! I’ve had brunch here a couple times and have never been disappointed, but I have yet to try their dinner. Looking at their menu, all of their Cured Meats are gluten free including what they title “Literally the World’s Best Pork!!” – I have to come back and see for myself. The Polenta, Tuscan Kale, Broccoflower, and Brussel Sprouts also sound mouthwatering. I will certainly be trying the dinner soon!
