Ray Garcia’s warm, fresh, and homemade blue-corn tortillas strike again! B.S. Taqueria is a casual, hip taco joint located in the heart of DTLA. Just like its sister restaurant Broken Spanish, B.S. serves up Mexican delicacies with a modern twist. Here we go…
Tacos on deck! Carnitas, Shrimp, and our favorite Chorizo & Papas are all gluten-free and are all served with homemade blue corn tortillas. The Carnitas are a delicious classic, and the Shrimp tacos are spicy yet refreshing, served with a cabbage and fruit salsa. But the Chorizo & Papas are the real stunner – cheesy, spicy, and flavorful. These can be an entrée on their own. But, we had to try some more…
As for our sides, their most popular “Rice & Beans” is quite a unique take on the classic dish. The presentation was super fun as well; served in a paper bag, the toasted rice, garbanzos, butter beans, cotija, and Fresno chiles created an explosive amalgamation of flavor. This spicy, yummy dish is subject to CC though.
A new menu item was a must – the plantains served with crema, Serrano, Verjus, and cotija. The dull sweetness of the plantains and garlic au jus sauce were so yummy. And they were naturally GF – so dig. IN.
As for next time, the Lengua tacos, the Carne Asada (avoid if you are sensitive to beer marinades – although it burns off in the cooking process) and the Chile Toreados* (once they implement the use of tamari) are all on our list.
*The Chile Toreados are currently NOT GF, but they will be using tamari opposed to soy in the future.
