When I’m in LA, I’m always on the hunt for new coffee shops. Venice, in particular, is home to some of my favorites. What makes a good coffee shop, you ask? Cool scene, good music, NOBREAD-friendly food, and wifi of course. For a year now, I’ve had my go-to spots, but in coming back to LA this month, I was told I HAD to go to Rose Cafe, a new cafe in Venice Beach. I’m actually sitting here at Rose Cafe right now as I write!…
Rose Cafe is popular at all times of day. The brunch is delicious, the lunch is perfect as you dine solo and work for the day, and the cafe is awesome for dinner too, as it is a great casual spot to grab a meal and a few drinks with friends. Upon entering the cafe, you have the option of going right or left. To the right is a sit down restaurant with a full menu, and to the left is for people like myself who want to grab a quick bite and set up shop to work. Quick bites include a hefty selection of sandwiches (they do NOT have gluten-free bread), and a whole bunch of amazing, gluten-free salad, veggie, and meat options behind a glass case. My favorite gluten-free dishes from this section are the salmon, roast chicken, broccolini, cauliflower, sweet potato, and Brussels sprout salad. The offerings here change daily, but there are always several yummy, gluten-free options to choose from! On the restaurant side, Rose’s most popular dish is the crispy kale Brussels sprouts with kale pesto and fried eggs. Literally three of my favorite things all in one dish. For the dairy-free crowd, there is parmesan and butter in this dish, so if you are sensitive you will have to sit these out. I also recommend the kale salad and cauliflower t-bone!
I’ve been to Rose twice now within the two weeks I’ve been back in LA, and if I was living in Venice, I’m sure I’d be here MUCH more! Any cafe that has me driving 30 minutes from West Hollywood to set up shop and work for the day must be pretty great. I highly recommend checking this spot out ASAP!
