There are hundreds of sushi restaurants in New York City, and unless you’re Nobu, Sushi Samba, or Bond St, it’s hard to make your mark on the New York City dining scene. Enter Sushi Sen-nin; the sushi go-to for many who live in Murray Hill. Not only is Sushi Sen-nin the perfect place to satisfy your Murray Hill sushi fix, but it is cheap, gluten free when you ask for the brown rice, and the menu is extensive!
I have only been to the actual Sushi Sen-nin once, but I eat Sushi Sen-nin once every week or two at the office. Next to Bobby Van’s, Sushi Sen-nin is the most popular restaurant to cater from when we need to bring lunch into a client’s office. Not only do clients love the platters of “healthy” sushi, but I personally love ordering it because the brown sushi rice is gluten free and gluten free soy sauce is available. It’s always nice when I, too, can indulge in what my clients and colleagues are eating. NOTE: the white rice is malted with vinegar, so if you are part of the nobread crowd, stick to the brown rice only. If you are looking for more than just sushi, Sen-nin serves a whole menu filled with meats, skewers, and other Asian specialties. I highly recommend the edamame to start, followed by any of the meats and fishes- just make sure you reiterate that no teriyaki or other soy-based sauces come into contact with your meal.
Sushi Sen-nin is reliable, serves the perfect mix of rolls and sashimi, and gluten free brown rice and gluten free soy sauce is available upon request. For the Murray Hill crowd, if you haven’t been yet, I think I just found you your new local sushi spot.
