With four locations throughout the city, Hummus Kitchen is the place to go if you’re craving a gluten-free Mediterranean feast. Serving over 10 different varieties of hummus, as well as mazze’s (small-plates), salads, entrees, shakshuka and laffa’s (wraps), there is literally something for everyone. Not to mention, the entire menu can be made GLUTEN-FREE (except the desserts) by replacing pita bread with fresh veggies and couscous with quinoa!…
The food at Hummus Kitchen is fresh, simple, healthy and gluten-friendly, but do note that all fried items are subject to cross-contamination, including the falafel, which is technically gluten-free, and the cauliflower. One Friday afternoon, my friend and I settled in for quite the feast. We started with the “The Hummus Kitchen,” which is a platter of four different types of hummus, including chickpea, tahini, plain, and chicken (we replaced the chicken for Portobello mushroom). The hummus was amazing, and we had plenty of crunchy veggies for dipping. We then ordered the charred beet salad, the falafel and the stuffed grape leaves as small plates, followed by the most beautiful chicken kebab over a chopped mediterranean salad, as well as the Shawarma platter with rice. After a meal like this, I know that I have to go back for brunch to try the shakshuka!
Hummus Kitchen is the type of restaurant that you can go to at any time of day, whether it’s for brunch, a casual lunch, a quick snack or a fun dinner. The prices are hard to beat, the serving sizes are generous, and everything is delicious!
