Mexican Radio is an unassuming little spot in NoLiTa with delicious authentic Mexican food. It’s small and busy and the outdoor seating makes it the perfect place to grab a bite on a sunny day. There are plenty of NOBREAD approved options on the menu and killer margaritas! My favorite is the blood orange. To top it off, tacos are served on corn tortillas and the restaurant will modify certain dishes to be gluten free! Yes, including dessert…
Definitely start with chips and roasted tomato salsa or guacamole. If you’re like me, order both! I ordered the carnitas. I’m a sucker for pulled pork and Mexican Radio did not let me down. Their pork is cooked with a citrus blend of oranges, limes, garlic and a smoky pepper salsa. Insanely delicious! My friend ordered the taco salad with romaine, chopped tomatoes, red peppers and sliced avocado, tossed with homemade spicy chipotle ranch dressing and topped with grated cheese and lime crema. It was amazingly good, too! Don’t forget to order a side of the grilled corn smothered in chipotle aioli and tangy queso; it’s a staple at Mexican Radio. They also make a gluten free version of the deep-fried calamari!
I will absolutely be back for the carne asada fries. It has chunks of marinated grilled steak served on a giant bed of homemade fries and topped with melted cheese, guacamole and crema and pico de gallo. I know… I need that in my life right now! For the dessert lovers, they make a GF version of their plantain fritters served with whipped cream and cinnamon. You will NOT leave hungry! The location is ideal- right off of busy Houston; so gather your friends and come ready to eat!
