For YEARS I have driven by The Lobster Roll on my way to the beach in Amagansett or out to Montauk. Known to many as ‘LUNCH,’ The Lobster Roll has prime real estate along Route 27 and is crowded from its opening to close. A restaurant named “The Lobster Roll” might sound like a nightmare for a gluten free person, but thankfully this is not the case! Not only is there a full gluten-free menu for those of us in the NOBREAD crowd, but lobster roll’s are gluten free when you ask for a gluten free roll!…
Given the name of the restaurant, you HAVE to order a gluten free lobster roll! Served in drawn butter, chunks of lobster fill your plate and the dish is surprisingly healthy! Unlike other lobster rolls that use mayo and are jumbo-sized, the lobster rolls here are smaller and you can build your own roll. Other NOBREAD favorites include the lobster salad dishes which are made with 100% pure cold lobster meat. The recipe was created over 45 years ago, and it doesn’t use any fillers or preservatives! Shrimp salad and tuna salad dishes are also offered on the menu, and if you are in the mood for something a bit more filling, I recommend any of the restaurant’s broiled fishes. I opted for the salmon, and was impressed by the large portion and tastiness of the dish. Lastly, when in doubt, I recommend ordering a whole lobster! Served with cole slaw, and your choice between corn, a small salad, and roasted new potatoes, this meal will have you satisfied and full for hours! If you’re not in the mood for seafood, that’s okay! The Lobster Roll serves a veggie burger, beef burger, turkey burger, and chicken breast that are all gluten free when you ask for a gluten free roll! French fries are subject to cross contamination at the restaurant, but the sweet potato fries are 100% gluten free and fair game!
Casual and convenient with hearty portions, it is no wonder why The Lobster Roll has become a staple restaurant in Amagansett’s limited dining scene. Grab a (gluten free) lobster roll and head to the beach, or snatch a table with friend’s and enjoy the fresh Hamptons air. One trip to the restaurant has me excited to go back for more!
