Louie’s Oyster Bar & Grille is one of the most popular restaurants on the North Shore of Long Island. Equipped with one of the largest outdoor patio decks on the island, Louie’s is the perfect place to grab a casual lunch, celebrate an occasion over dinner with friends, and sip on cocktails while enjoying the summer sunset. Not only does the restaurant have an amazing outdoor deck that makes you want to sit and stay for hours, but Louie’s also has a dedicated gluten free menu! …
To start, I recommend ordering any of the raw fish specials or platters. Crab cocktail, Shrimp Cocktail, Oysters and more grace the list, and are all, of course, gluten free! At lunch, several salads are offered such as the Marinated Seafood Salad and Chopped Shrimp Salad which are perfect if you are in the mood for something lighter. Like most seafood restaurants, classics including fried calamari and crab cakes are offered on the menu, but as you may have guessed, they are not gluten free. My favorite section of the menu is the “Fresh Fish Selection.” Several of my favorite fish, including salmon, cod, tuna, and swordfish are offered, and you can select from blood orange jus, extra virgin olive oil, and chive beurre blanc to accompany your fish. If you’re feeling really hungry, you have to order the sirloin burger on Udi’s gluten free bread! The burger is massive and will leave you full for hours! The fries at Louie’s are thin and crispy–just how I like them– but they are subject to cross contamination, so if you are sensitive you will have to sit these out.
Louie’s is the ultimate Happy Hour spot given it’s huge bar, extensive cocktail selection, and prime view of the sunset. If you want to check out the restaurant earlier in the day, take your boat and park it on the dock! Delicious, casual food in an awesome atmosphere; it’s no wonder why Louie’s is a go-to staple restaurant for Long Island’s North Shore!
