No summer is complete without a trip to Encinitas, the surfing hotspot of San Diego! We all know Los Angeles is the health and wellness capital when it comes to healthy eats, and although Encinitas isn’t up to LA’s level, it’s starting to get in on the health and wellness game and I am very here for it.
GOODONYA
Any time I’m in Encinitas my first stop is GoodOnYa! I fell in love with this cafe a few years back- they are all about real, organic food, and put a unique spin on brunch classics! My go-to order is the Fried Egg Plate. Two pastured over-easy eggs cooked in coconut oil (it’s cooked in grass-fed butter, but I sub this out) with spinach, avocado, and sweet potato hash browns. The sweet potato hash browns are SO good; super light and super flavorful. The beverage menu at GoodOnYa is my favorite. Not only do they have juices, smoothies, and lattes, but they also have bone broth! It’s still rare to see bone broth on a menu anywhere!
I love the selection of Golden Milks at GoodOnYa. They all are made with house-made coconut milk, and you can do a classic golden latte (turmeric, raw honey, cinnamon, black pepper) or a golden chai, golden matcha, etc! The matcha latte with coconut milk is amazing, too! Other menu favorites are: Breakfast Burrito in a gluten-free wrap, any of the scrambles, and gluten-free pancakes.
Oh, I can’t forget to mention! GoodOnYa carries Meet The Source balls!! My raw, vegan, gluten-free obsession!! You can also shop GoodOnYa’s products at the store 🙂
NECTARINE GROVE
I’m a creature of habit and was honestly okay with just going to GoodOnYa every morning, but my friends were raving about Nectarine Grove so I had to give it a try. Well I hate to admit it, but this might be my new favorite spot in Encinitas! eat GOOD live GOOD is their motto, and both we did. The entire menu is gluten-free and organic paleo, they don’t use any refined sugar, and to top it off, they have an in-house bakery. The gluten-free avocado toast and eggs are a must, and the smoothies were delicious, too, but the PANCAKES stole the show. Wow. I have no words. I was torn between waffles and pancakes, so looks like I’ll be ordering the waffles on my next go-around. All breads used for sandwiches and toasts are served on the bread the Nectarine team makes in-house. They also sell it from the shop! I took a loaf home with me 🙂
As much as I DIDN’T want to indulge in dessert, you all know I have no self-control, especially when the pastry selection looks as good as NG’s did! The vegan fudge brownie was next level and the donut was delicious, too! I almost when back for a chocolate chip cookie but I used some self-control.
Our weekend in San Diego was SO much fun… you can peep it here! Between the good food and good vibes, I will absolutely be back again soon!
