So here's what we think...

MXDC has cemented itself as a Mexican food hotspot in Washington DC. With a killer vibe, an extensive contemporary-meets-traditional menu, and celebrity chef Todd English,  MXDC has easily become extremely popular. More importantly, with its wide variety of gluten-free options and a menu of tequilas a page long, MXDC has made a name for itself with the gluten-free crowd…

The majority of the menu is NOBREAD-friendly, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and willing to provide you with any information you need so that you feel comfortable eating at the restaurant. To start, you cannot go wrong with the traditional guacamole. The guacamole is filled with chunky avocado, tomatoes, and even has some jalapeño for an extra kick. The tortilla chips served alongside the guacamole are highly addicting, however, they are subject to cross contamination so be careful if you are sensitive!

In terms of entrees, it’s hard to go wrong with any option. The MX Chipotle Pasta is filled with seafood including mussels and shrimp, and is topped with a chipotle cream. Best of all- it is served with a corn-based pasta, making it NOBREAD-approved! The Pork Belly Tacos are my go-to order at MXDC. With pickled red onion and avocado, the tacos are my clear favorite. Other NOBREAD-approved entrees include the Ensalade De Jicama (just ask for no dressing) and the Pollo Tacos.

What surprised me the most at MXDC was that the majority of the quesadillas were gluten-free! It is rare to find gluten-free quesadillas at any restaurant! Out of curiosity, I ordered the Huitlacoche Quesadilla and was not disappointed! At MXDC, the quesadillas most resemble a pizza rather than a traditional quesadilla. Served like a flatbread, the Huitlacoche Quesadilla is topped with Mexican corn truffle, arugula, and mozzarella. Other gluten-free quesadillas include the Kabra Quesadilla and the Mariscada Quesadilla.

If you are craving Mexican food, MXDC is the place to go. With an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff, an amazing menu, and great atmosphere, MXDC is the perfect spot for a fun date or dinner with friends.
