Mention that you are craving a sandwich anywhere in Los Angeles and someone will likely tell you to go to Mendocino Farms. Sandwiches are an obvious red flag for most gluten free diners as traditional delis don’t always offer gluten free bread. Luckily, Mendocino Farms is not your typical deli. The shop is known for its menu items that feature creative and healthy spins on traditional classics. Their kale Caesar salad (minus the wheatberries) is one of my favorites of these innovative dishes, imitating the comfort of a Caesar salad with a more modern and health conscious approach. Mendocino has all kinds of sandwiches, gluten free bread, and even better, all are labeled gluten free, vegetarian, and even vegan! Mendocino also allows customers to build their own creations, so even the pickiest of eaters can find something they love. I have eaten every sandwich possible from their extensive menu and have never been disappointed. My sandwich go-tos are the prosciutto and free range roasted chicken, which features a delicious basil pesto vinaigrette and honey roasted almonds for a crunch, on gluten free bread, of course. The Sandwich Study of Heat is a yummy twist on the classic turkey sandwich, and it is especially perfect for those who are daring with spice! I also love Mendocino’s seasonal sandwiches, which feature the freshest ingredients based on the respective time of year! And just one more word to the wise, don’t leave without one of their delicious sides!

For quality food in a casual atmosphere, Mendocino Farms is one place you can’t pass up, and with seven locations throughout the Los Angeles area you won’t have to! So if you are gluten free, lower that red flag you raise when you see or hear the word sandwiches and head over to Mendocino Farms.
