I haven’t been to London in over a year, and for me that is a year too long! I absolutely love the city, and moreover, I love their food scene. In looking up the hottest restaurants of 2018, I stumbled across The Palomar located in SoHo, my favorite part of town. I had heard about The Palomar from friends, and after confirming with a few food-blogging friends that it was indeed fantastic, I had to make a reservation…
Israeli cuisine can be a little tough for the gluten-free (lots of cous cous, pita, falafels etc), but it can also be SUPER gluten-friendly. For instance, dishes that require pita for dipping can be replaced with crudité, and cous cous can be subbed for rice or other sides. When our waitress came to take our order, I told her that I was gluten-free. She proceeded to take my menu and highlight every item that was GF, and create custom alternatives for dishes that weren’t. How incredibly kind, ACCOMODATING and knowledgeable! We ordered the Tel Aviv Mix (octopus, calamari, shrimp in a tomato sauce) first, and this starter was mind blowing. We also ordered the classic hummus and polenta with mushrooms, asparagus, and truffle, to get some dips on the table. I also ordered the seared scallops, because it’s hard for me to turn down a good scallop. Oh. My. Lord. These scallops were next level. Dressed with the right amount of sauce and accompanied by potatoes, this dish as so delicious I didn’t let anyone else have a bite. My friend also ordered the Sirloin for him, because men need their MEAT.
The cocktails at The Palomar were great, the staff were all so impressive and attentive, and the food was unbelievable. The Palomar is an absolute must!
