Five years ago when I went gluten free, it was VERY rare for a restaurant to carry gluten free bread. The result: the name of my website. Everywhere I went following my diagnosis I asked for my burgers with nobread. That was until I learned that 5 Napkin Burger serves gluten free burger buns! I went to 5 Napkin Burger for brunch with 3 girlfriends a few winters ago when we were in desperate need of a good burger after a LONG night out. Red meat isn’t the easiest for a person with a stomach condition to digest, but indulging is 100% worth it when a burgers are AS GOOD as the ones served here…
Immediately after we sat down we ordered sweet potato fries for the table. There is nothing like a large order of french fries for an appetizer! The sweet potato fries here are delicious- they don’t feel greasy AND most importantly, all fries at 5 Napkin are cooked in a dedicated gluten-free fryer. For mains, my friends ordered different variations of the burger and fries and I opted for their bun-less burger on salad. I love that gluten free burger buns are offered here, but I am also dairy-free, so I chose to go nobread with my salad and order ANOTHER order of sweet potato fries. All burgers here are gluten free, except for the veggie burger (veggie burgers typically aren’t gluten free), and if you are sensitive to soy, don’t order the tuna burger. The burgers here are great and the fries are fantastic, and I am happy to say 5 Napkin will definitely be my new go-to burger joint in the city.
Interestingly enough, in addition to serving a range of burgers, 5 Napkin also offers several traditional sushi rolls. All rolls are gluten free; however, there is no gluten free soy sauce. Large menu, delicious food, knowledgable waitstaff, and an all around gluten-friendly dining experience; 5 Napkin Burger is an amazing nobread dining experience!
