A bite from these poké bowls in chilly, grey London immediately transports you to the Hawaiian warmth and sunshine. These intricate, flavorful bowls are packed to perfection and served with style at Ahi Poké, Fitzrovia’s new poké hot spot. The neon lights on their wall says “you’ve been pokéd”, but we say you’ll be hooked…
This fresh, minimalist space in the heart of London invites you to the beach for the perfect bowl of seaside, healthy goodness. The friendly staff has masterfully crafted a few signature bowls that you can choose from (all can be gluten-free without the kimchee cucumbers and the Leche de Tigre sauce), or you can be adventurous and DIY.
How does it work? First you choose your base: rice, quinoa, or lightly blanched kale (or a combo!). Then select your protein: ahi tuna, tuna, salmon, shrimp or mushrooms. All seafood is responsibly-sourced & sustainably caught, supplied daily by local fishmongers. Whatever your fish or veggie preference, a sprinkle of their house scallion and black sesame seasoning is quickly mixed in for flavor. Then the fun part… choosing your toppings. And good news! All are gluten-free except for the kimchee cucumbers that are marinated in soy sauce. The cucumbers are made in a contained environment and the staff is specially trained to avoid any topping spillage, so the risk of cross-contamination is none. The more color the better for us, so we topped our salmon + kale + quinoa bowl off with carrot, radish, coriander, edamame, avocado and confit ginger. For the finishing touch, try their homemade Leche de Tigre sauce, a gluten-free citrus-based seafood marinade.
Not super hungry? Go for the small bowl which has only 1 scoop of fish/ veggie vs. 2 scoops in the large bowl. But beware, it’s so good that you’ll want more. We are already counting down until our next Ahi Poké bowl beach holiday!
