When it comes time to choosing a venue for a client lunch, I look for three things: healthy, nobread approved food, and an ambiance that is not too fancy and not too casual. So, typically I end up at Midtown’s hottest seafood restaurants. And more often then not, I end up at Ammos. Ammos, located right accross from Grand Central is healthy and delicious, and the staff does an excellent job of making diners feel as though they are in a Greek taverna…
Over 75% of the menu at Ammos is nobread approved. To start, I recommend the grilled calamari, grilled octopus, or grilled tiger shrimp. These crustaceans are also available over salad and my favorite way to start the meal. Also, for everyone who can tolerate dairy, the yogurts and dips are crowd favorites and they are seen on just about every table (just ask for a nobread sub for the pita). For mains, I highly recommend opting for a seafood entree; the fish is fresh caught and imported from Greece, and served grilled with olive oil. I tend to go with the salmon or sea bass. Lastly, for the meat eaters, the several ways you can order the lamb all look incredible. Compliment these orders with a side of french fries (warning: cross contamination) or healthy greens to round out your meal.
Quick, healthy, and delicious; Ammos is the perfect restaurant to catch up with your parents or bring a client to for lunch or dinner. And with so many varieties of fish, I’ll never run out of things to try!
