The ever so successful people behind Los Angeles’ famed Angelini Osteria have struck again, this time with a more casual concept, Alimentari, a classic Italian coffee bar serving up some of the best espresso, breakfast, lunch, and the most authentic gelato to hit LA. It is located next door to the Osteria on Beverly Blvd. in West Hollywood, equipped with an adorable patio and sleek cafe. Italian goodies are served up for breakfast and lunch daily, along with imported goods to take home.
Living up to the hype of the Angelini name, Alimentari has incorporated the best, imported Italian goods into their dishes, a much-appreciated homage to their Italian heritage. Popping in for a weekday lunch, we tried several breakfast and lunch dishes. One of their most popular dishes, the Uova in Purgatorios con ‘Nduja, is naturally gluten free. Spicy, hearty, and a perfect brunch dish – be sure to try this guy on your visit. The Salmone Affumicato was my favorite. This open-faced sandwich can be made gluten-free by substituting the bread out for GF bread. It is served with an avocado mayo spread and smoked salmon. The beet and burrata salad is refreshing and lighter- dollops of burrata, walnuts, and arugula dressed in an orange-lemon dressing. And of course, we had to add a bowl of French fries for obvious reasons.
If you try anything here, it must be the gelato. They use a special churning machine that very few places use, creating the best consistency and decadent flavor. My favorite was the pistachio, but honestly, they are all to die for, you really cannot go wrong.
Since most of the dishes are naturally gluten-free, or easily substituted to accommodate, you will not have too many issues with ordering. Alimentari is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or that mid-day coffee break you need, and we are thrilled it has been brought to LA by some of the best in the business.
