We visited Angelo’s on a Sunday evening greeted by a warm staff and inviting atmosphere. Angelo’s was established in 1962 and has been the talk of Albany Park ever since. With an extensive wine list and cocktail program as well as a huge menu, it’s a great spot for any occasion.
We began with the spinach caesar salad (hold the croutons) a great update the classic romaine style. Topped with ribbons of fresh parmesan, chunks of bacon and fresh tomatoes, this salad didn’t disappoint. Pastas are off limits to gluten free eaters, but all pizzas can be ordered on gluten-free dough. Two have been on the menu since the restaurant opened – The Angelo’s and Manzo Italiano. The Manzo Italiano with housemade Italian beef and giardiniera topped with mozzarella – SOLD!
For entrees we tried the roasted skin on salmon served over a fresh, crunchy and delicious fava bean succotash. The salmon was perfectly cooked in their wood oven. The lamb lollipops covered in mint chimichurri and aleppo pepper had the perfect kick of spice. Even more of a standout was the crispy cauliflower topped with fresh herbs and an Asian nouc mom cham. This was delightfully refreshing and unique. We licked the plate clean.
Overall we a fantastic dining experience at Angelo’s. The staff was very happy to accommodate gluten free or any other dietary restrictions. Make Angelo’s your next gluten free dining desination, you won’t be disappointed.
