Baba Bar is located a few blocks from the Clarendon Metro Station in Arlington. Located right underneath their sister restaurant, Ambar, Baba Bar is a Serbian/Eastern European restaurant that serves small dishes, cocktails, coffees, and more. They have various different types of tables you can sit at including tables with couches, high-top tables, and typical dining tables. They also feature a bar area that serves a multitude of cocktails and other drinks…
Since we went between 8 AM and 3 PM, we chose food off of the brunch menu. Unfortunately, their bread is not gluten-free (only wheat-free), so I opted for the Grain Bowl which was gluten-free (french green lentils, brown rice bowl, quinoa, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, organic bacon, sunflower seeds) with the kimchi yogurt on the side. We also got the BABA’s House Salad to share (kale, chickpeas, edamame, fava beans, pumpkin puree, ginger syrup, parmesan cheese, pumpkin seeds) with the sauce on the side as well. Lastly, since Baba Bar has such a great selection of drinks to choose from, we decided to give the Strawberry Lemonade a try.
Everything was delicious. Not only were all the dishes flavorful, they also tasted crisp and fresh. Even with the littlest bit of sauce, the salad and grain bowl were still seasoned enough to taste great by themselves. The strawberry lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, without being too much flavor in one sip.
Even though their dishes are described by the waiters as “small plates,” sharing three dishes among the two of us was more than enough to fill us up!
