The West Village is full of restaurants that focus on healthy, locally sourced vegetables and cuisine. Well, with so many delicious, trendy restaurants competing to be the best, it’s important to make sure that none are overlooked! Baker & Co, located on Bleecker St is one of these restaurants that deserves more attention. Brought to us by the owners of Emporio in NoLiTa and Aurora in SoHo and Brooklyn, Baker & Co’s Italian menu features a mix of classics including pizza and pasta, as well as delicious fish, poultry, and vegetable dishes…

To start, you HAVE to order the kale salad. The kale salad with roasted delicata squash, pumpkin seeds, ricotta salata, and tahini is incredible, and unlike many other kale salads I have had, it is quite filling! Given that the restaurant is Italian, I recommend ordering one of the delicious pastas for your main course. The restaurant keeps GF pasta on hand and all pasta dishes except for the gnudi and lasagna can be prepared gluten free. Given that I was a party of 1, I didn’t have the opportunity to order several dishes I would have loved to have tried. However, my friends tell me that the roasted cauliflower nobreadcrumbs is one of the best cauliflower dishes in New York City! Lastly, the pizzas at Baker & Co cannot be made gluten free, but word on the street is that their sister restaurant, Emporio, in NoLiTa, is famous for their GF pizza crust.
I have yet to go to the restaurant for brunch, but I absolutely have to soon! The baked eggs and frittata are both gluten free and screaming my name. This season’s frittata features brussels sprouts and zucchini, two of my favorite vegetables, and I can only imagine how delicious this combination is. Baker & Co is open for lunch too, and features items that are on both the brunch and dinner menu. I highly recommend checking this West Village spot out… especially once the weather warms up! The restaurant has an adorable outdoor patio that I will be hitting up as soon as possible.
