Walking into Bobo’s Lounge you’ll quickly forget the busy streets of Lombard. If you’ve lived in San Francisco, you’ve most likely heard of this San Francisco favorite, as they are famed for their steaks and funky décor. Bobo’s Lounge is not to be mistaken for it’s parent restaurant, Boboquivari’s, which is located only steps away but different in its design and purpose. The cozy Lounge is made for cocktails with friends, or a romantic dinner for two. Either way, both restaurants are a great option and they serve the same menu! A friend and I were lucky to try the gluten-free options on the menu, which were delicious and thankfully didn’t leave us feeling like we were missing out, which is often the case in Italian restaurants…
The highlights of the menu include the high-quality steaks and freshly caught seafood. In terms of appetizers, I would recommend any of the salads that can be made gluten-free, like the Heirloom Toy Box with no croutons. I was able to try the shishito peppers, which were grilled to perfection and the perfect accompaniment to an appetizer. We also tried the lamb lollipops, which I thoroughly enjoyed since lamb is a favorite of mine. For our main course, we devoured the Branzino. The fish comes to the table whole, and it’s fried. If you are sensitive to cross contamination do not order anything fried, since the fryer is subject to cross contamination. However, you will still have TONS of options when it comes to entrees since all of the steak and seafood choices are prepared a la carte and are not subject to cross contamination. In terms of sides, avoid anything breaded and all of the pasta options, and opt for any of the vegetables, since they are NOBREAD friendly.
Bobo’s Lounge is a can’t miss in San Francisco. Everything from the restaurant’s charm, to the attentive wait staff were enough to get me excited for round two. Make sure you communicate with your waiter at the restaurant to ensure everything is prepared gluten-free, and you’ll have an easy time and a highly enjoyable meal!
