Bombay Sandwich Co. began as a stand serving delicious Indian cuisine at Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg food market. The vegan food, made with fresh and quality ingredients, gained popularity quickly and soon enough, Bombay became a brick-and-mortar shop in the middle of Manhattan. The food is rich and flavorful, but also tastes healthy and it is void of any harmful fats or additives…
All of Bombay’s salads and bowls are gluten free, and the menu is marked to let you know which items are NOBREAD approved. The portions are generous and it’s honestly hard to go wrong when ordering. The marinated kale salad with avocado, carrots, beets, and sunflower seeds is refreshing and full of superfoods. However, when visiting Bombay I highly recommend ordering something that highlights the Indian flavors it is known best for. The Chana Masala bowl is a chickpea stew that is perfectly flavored with garlic, ginger, Indian gooseberry, and fresh ground spices. Like all of the bowls, it is served over brown rice with salad and kale-walnut pesto. If you’re like me and can’t decide between all of the delicious options, then the platter is perfect for you. The platter lets you choose 5 items from any of the stews or salads. I ordered the platter with French lentils, chana masala, veggie mashup, sweet potato salad, and kale salad, and was perfectly satisfied with the huge portion. I cannot wait to go back and try the endless number of possible combinations of delicious food.
Bombay Sandwich Co. is located in the midsection of the Flatiron, Chelsea and Nomad neighborhoods, making it a convenient location for many to grab lunch during their workday breaks. The spot is tiny with limited seating, but it is the perfect grab-and-go spot when you are seeking a flavorful, satisfying, and healthy meal.
