A few weeks ago, I saw one of my girlfriends post a picture from Bottlefish. The picture was of a delicious looking salmon, simply grilled, accompanied by brussels sprouts. Two of my favorite foods! Upon researching the restaurant, I noticed it was in Brentwood! I’ve been yearning for more Brentwood representation on NOBREAD; it’s such a great part of town, and home to many post-college adults and young families… AKA a large part of the NOBREAD demographic! So off went an e-mail to Bottlefish’s PR team! Well I had the opportunity to go to the restaurant this week, and I’m so excited to report my findings…
With a menu FULL of gluten-free options, it was so hard choosing what to order! I went for lunch, and essentially the entire lunch menu was gluten-free except for the starters and the sandwiches. The one starter that WAS gluten-free, and I was SO excited to see, was the Salmon Gravlax served on a potato galette. How often is it that a galette is gluten-free? So rare! This dish was amazing and the perfect way to kick off a meal. My friend and I also ordered oysters… because every great seafood meal starts with oysters. For mains, I was torn between one of the simply grilled fish and the Shrimp & Crab Louie Salad. I opted for the salad; the salad was served with a hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, avocado, cucumbers, and Louie dressing over romaine, and it was super filling. It’s also quite photogenic if I may add! My friend went with the salmon, and the dish was as simple and elegant as I knew it would be. Lastly, you must order the veggies. All of the veggies were gluten-free; however, the brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and french fries were cooked in a shared fryer and subject to cross contamination. If you can handle cross-contamination, like my friend and I could, you MUST order the brussels and cauliflower! The brussels are cooked in a Thai vinaigrette, and I literally could have licked the bowl. We also ordered the Za’atar Blackened Carrots that were topped with a sumac yogurt and mint. If you are able to eat dairy, this side is calling your name.
Bottlefish’s has so many delicious options on the menu still waiting for me to try, so I will absolutely be back soon. If you work in Brentwood, definitely take your clients and colleagues here; it was quite the corporate hotspot! See you soon, Bottlefish!
