by Chloe has been the talk of Boston ever since it arrived. With a bright space, adorable ambiance, celebrity chef, and cool concept, by Chloe definitely lives up to its name! Chef Chloe Coscarelli and team make unique and satisfying vegan and plant-based dishes that cater to all diners. Yes, carnivores, it is a vegan restaurant… but the food is so incredible and hearty you won’t miss your meat! Coolest part? Your food is served on a tray with crayons and tray sheets that you can color on! So adults, bring your kids and also enjoy feeling like a kid again…
The entire menu at by Chloe is so delicious and tasty, it’s hard to limit suggestions. All salads can be made gluten-free, and to start, my friend and I went with the Quinoa Taco Salad (GF if you sub tempeh in for chorizo) and Spicy Thai Salad (ask for no crispy wontons to make it GF). The Spicy Thai Salad was one of our favorite dishes of the afternoon! The peanut dressing added the right amount of flavor and the quinoa and edamame were the perfect touch. Next up, The Classic Burger with French Fries. Good news everyone!! The Classic Burger is 100% gluten-free, as it is served on a GF bun, and the tempeh-lentil-chia-walnut patty is 100% gluten-free too! To top it off, the french fries and sweet potato fries are air-baked, and therefore they are not subject to ANY cross contamination! For the avocado toast lovers, the avo toast topped with sweet corn is gluten-free and one of the most popular orders at the restaurant. Next up: the pastas, which my friend and I agreed may have been the best part of the meal. Have you ever had gluten-free pasta with sweet potato cheese sauce and shiitake mushrooms? It was incredible. And have you ever heard of avocado-pesto gluten-free pasta?? No? Because I hadn’t either. Both of those gluten-free pastas were amazing!! Artichoke Dip was a favorite appetizer of mine growing up, but due to my gluten and dairy allergy I had not had it in years. Well, by Chloe makes a kale-artichoke dip with gluten-free tortilla chips, and the cheese is made from nutritional yeast; this dip shockingly tastes just like the artichoke dips of my childhood. It is another must order! Lastly, the market veggie of the day was corn with almond parmesan. The corn was incredibly addictive! I love when a dish so simple ends up being one of my favorite parts of the meal.
No meal at by Chloe is complete without indulging in the (entire) dessert menu. The vegan and gluten-free chocolate chip cookie and chocolate cupcake are outstanding! The vegan ice creams may be the most unique vegan ice creams I have ever experienced; the kale cookies and cream (my favorite), coffee chia chip, and roasted banana bourbon (yes, it contains alcohol) were pretty much phenomenal. Chloe’s also has gluten-free ice cream sandwiches!!
The success of by Chloe in Boston has been incredible, and I’m happy to report the team has expanded to two more locations in NYC (SoHo and Flatiron), a sweets shop (Greenwich Village), and a restaurant in Los Angeles (Silver Lake)!
