Cafe Cluny is the quintessential New York City restaurant. Located in the heart of the West Village, Cafe Cluny has been around years, and it is the go-to breakfast/lunch destination for many in the area. The restaurant is homey, the staff is sweet, the food is great, and the menu is gluten friendly! I went to the restaurant for the first time this week, and with a menu full of nobread approved options, I know I’ll be back in no time for more…
Given that Cluny is most popular for breakfast & brunch, I went to the restaurant for breakfast so I could try some of their classic dishes. I ordered the three egg omelette with spinach and greens and was very pleased with my filling omelette. The granola AND oatmeal with berries are both gluten free and perfect breakfast options, too. I had my eye on the avocado toast with poached egg, which is gluten free when you ask for gluten free bread, and I have a feeling I’ll be back in very soon to try this. Gluten free bread adds a TON of variety to Cafe Cluny’s menu, as the egg soldiers and breakfast sandwich, both of which are very popular, are gluten free when you ask for the GF bread. For those who prefer meat instead of eggs, I suggest the steak frites, just be careful as the french fries are subject to cross contamination in the fryer.
For lunch, I’ve heard great things about the cauliflower salad and twice cooked octopus, and I can only imagine how delicious they are. Great food and an adorable atmosphere, Cafe Cluny is absolutely where you should host your next breakfast meeting or meet your friend for lunch. I look forward to coming in again soon!
