Catch NYC, another EMM Group specialty, is fun and trendy and a seafood favorite located in the heart of the Meatpacking District. I LOVE going to restaurants that have a fun vibe and scene because you feel as though you’ve had a full night ‘out’ and not just a 2 hour dinner, and Catch is the perfect example of this combination. Oh, and they have one of the best rooftop scenes in New York City…
The drinks at Catch are great, the food is presented well, and not to mention, it’s delicious… so what’s the ‘catch’? Well, for the sushi lovers, the rice itself is gluten-free, and there are several sushi and sashimi options for the NOBREAD crowd. Unfortunately, Catch’s famous rolls like the Hellfire Roll and Catch roll are NOT gluten-free due to Asian sauces containing miso or soy. Thankfully, the waitstaff is well equipped with nobread suggestions and they have a gluten-free menu! My favorite gluten-free orders: the seafood tower (filled with oysters, shrimp, lobster, and more), the Quinoa Avocado Salad topped with grilled salmon, tomato burrata, octopus and potato, and salmon carpaccio. The salmon carpaccio is INCREDIBLY flavorful, and the potato that accompanies the octopus stole the show! My favorite part of the Catch menu is the ‘Simply Cooked” section where you choose your fish and the accompanying sauce to guarantee your meal is cooked exactly to your liking. I always get the salmon a la plancha; grilled perfectly and just the right size. Whatever you do, make sure you indulge in the sides! The Parmesan Truffle Fries (careful- not cooked in a dedicated gluten-free fryer) are OUTSTANDING… literally the best in NYC… and you can’t go wrong with a side of brussels sprouts or roasted broccolini.
I love everything about Catch- the food, the vibe, the people… everything! The cocktail list has too many of my favorites, too, and this time I opted for the $28 Smoke Show: Absolut Elyx, Solbeso, Pineapple, Kalamansi, Angostura, and “Cinnamon Fog.” Now that the weather is warming up, the rooftop is where you need to be! I have yet to go to Catch for Brunch, but I hear they have a gluten-free ice-cream waffle tower that is mind-blowing, so I will absolutely be back for it soon!
