Chicken + Whiskey is a great South American spot that can be found on 14th Street. They have a dining section in the front of the restaurant with a bar that opens later at night in the back. The employees are welcoming and so passionate about all of the food they serve. There is a lot of effort put into the preparing and cooking of all of the items to create the best flavors possible…
We knew we definitely wanted to try the chicken wings since those are one of the more popular items. There are three different flavors, each with a different level of spiciness. We decided to go for the Chicken + Whiskey BBQ wings (which was the middle hotness of the three) since those are a staple. As for sides, we had a great selection of gluten-free options since there just as many gluten-free sides as ones with gluten! We ended up deciding on the Arroz Blanco (a simple side of steamed basmati rice), Cucumber Feta, and Guasacaca (which is very similar to guacamole).
The wings had the most amazing flavor. The barbeque flavor wasn’t unbearably sweet and they put just the right amount of sauce on. Each wing was crispy on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside. It had just a little bit of spiciness to it, which paired perfectly with the freshness of the cucumber feta side dish. The arroz blanco (basmati rice) went so well with the leftover sauce from the wings and even with some of the guasacaca mixed in. If you are a guacamole fan, the guasacaca is a great way to go. It was packed with flavors and had a balance between being creamy and still having some texture to it.
Chicken + Whiskey definitely hit the spot. If you’re craving chicken wings, you should stop by! They have plenty of gluten-free sides to add to your chicken to make a perfect meal.
