Australian cafes are some of my favorite restaurants. Ruby’s and Two Hands in NYC and Goldie’s and Bondi Harvest in LA; I have yet to meet an Aussie cafe I haven’t loved. Introducing Coco & Cru, a new Aussie cafe here in NYC. Serving bowls, brekkies, and more, there is something for everyone on the menu, and an adorable, casual vibe tops off the experience…
I went to Coco & Cru last week for lunch, and was overwhelmed when it was time to order; there were so many dishes I wanted to try! Since landing on the NYC dining scene a few weeks ago, I’ve seen countless pictures of their famous Green bowl. Filled with sauteed greens, veggies, and avocado, and topped with a poached egg, the bowl looked absolutely delicious. Well, it was love at first bite. The sauteed spinach is flavorful, the kale is crispy, the broccoli is roasted perfectly, and we all know I’m an avocado- and egg-addict. I topped my bowl with salmon, too, for extra protein! For the brunch crowd, I highly recommend the baked eggs with pulled pork. The dish is full of tender, tasty pork and it is seasoned just right. I also recommend the Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs and Asparagus & Eggs. My friend and I also ordered the sweet potato salad and the burger with nobread, because if you go to an Aussie Cafe you HAVE to order a burger! There is no gluten-free bread served at the restaurant, so the toasts are a no-go, but the sandwiches can be made gluten-free when you ask for nobread! Next time I go to the restaurant, I have to try the omelette and zucchini salad!
Coco & Cru is a welcome addition to the NYC dining scene, and I am so pleased to see they are off to a good start. With so many dishes I still have to try, there’s no doubt I’ll be back again soon. I’m still dreaming of that green bowl…
