If you live in NYC and haven’t heard of Cookie Do, then you are living under a rock. What started as an online bakeshop is now a brick + mortar store with lines, wait times, continuous press coverage, and people from all around the WORLD eager for a bite. Serving all things Do(ugh), owner Kristen Tomlan has turned all of our childhood dream’s into a reality. And I don’t know why I just said childhood, a store serving countless flavors of cookie dough is my adult dream, too!…
I cook dessert items every day, and as one should do when making cookies, cakes, and breads, I lick the bowl clean. I mean, why let perfectly good (and DELICIOUS) dough go to waste?! Also, the dough always tastes better than the final product! When I found out Cookie Do had gluten-free options I reached out and was quick to schedule a visit. Gluten-free options at Do include Signature Chocolate Chip, Sugar Cookie with Sugar on top, Heavenly, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. The PBCC is also vegan!! I obviously ordered that one immediately. I also tried the Heavenly, which consists of sugar cookie + nutella + chocolate chips + caramel bits + sea salt. This one is not vegan as there is butter in it. The PBCC was so good I could melt. To top the experience off, Do also has a gluten-free cone option! I had my PBCC in a cone, and even though I was full after a few bites, I saved the rest for later and devoured it that night when I needed some late-night eats.
Nine years ago when I had to go gluten-free, never could I have imagined that there would be an option for me at a place like Do, and I couldn’t have been more excited to see that there was. Do also sells cookies, pies, fudge, and more! Of these, the Blondie Bar is gluten-free and I hear it’s awesome.
Cookie Do totally lived up to its hype! For health reasons, do I suggest you make trips to the bakery a daily occurrence? Absolutely not. But I DO think you should all try Do!!
