Dirty Water is well known for its location in the Twitter building, but despite its location, the restaurant holds its own in terms of serving interesting cocktails and above-average bar food. Luckily enough for us gluten-free folks, we don’t have to avoid cocktail hour with colleagues because the staff at Dirty Water is well versed in gluten-free needs and more than happy to make accommodations…
What you’re going to want to order at Dirty Water is a specialty cocktail (or two) and a few plates to share amongst friends. In terms of cocktails, the gluten-free options include any alcohol that is made without wheat, which happens to include some of my favorites: Tequila, Mezcal, or Tito’s Vodka.
The menu is fairly easy to decipher and it is broken down into small and large plates. The charcuterie and cheese boards (naturally gluten-free) are the perfect way to start out a meal with friends. Of the larger plates, you would be missing out if you skipped the Charred Shishito & Padron Peppers with grits – it was one of my favorites of the night. We also ordered the Risotto and the Dirty Greens, which is a more interesting and delicious take on a basic green salad. Essentially the entire menu can be made gluten-free, with the other standouts including the Grilled Rainbow Trout, Grass-fed Hanger Steak, Diver Scallops and more.
Overall, Dirty Water is a place you’ll want to visit again and again. From the unique and delicious menus for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner, to the interesting cocktails and warm vibe, there are many reasons why this restaurant would turn into a reoccurring venue for a night out.
