Whether you are a fan of Indian food or not, you should make a trip to Dosa. This Indian food is collective and approachable while remaining authentic. Since the cuisine is Southern Indian, most of the menu items revolve around Dosas that are crepe-like and entirely made of rice and lentils, making them naturally gluten-free!! You won’t find typical American-Indian dishes such as chicken tikka masala here, but instead, you will try amazing flavors that are unique to Southern India!…
If you have any food allergies or intolerances, definitely let the server know and they will provide you with a color-coated menu that lists which items are gluten-, dairy- and or nut-free, making this restaurant extremely easy to navigate. The must-orders at Dosa are definitely the Dosa or the Uttampam, which is a pancake made with the same lentil and rice batter as the Dosa. You can order fillings ranging from truffle and cheese to a more traditional masala. I really enjoy curry, so I went with the seasonal vegetable curry that came with basmati rice, and I have to say it was definitely one of the better curries that I’ve ever had!! The lamb chops are another must order if you enjoy lamb- they are served with a touch of Indian seasoning and a buttery yogurt coating that brings lightness to the meat.
If you live in San Francisco you must try Dosa. They conveniently have two locations in the city (Lower Pac Heights and the Mission), making it easier to visit. The food is interesting, will stimulate your taste buds, and can be entirely gluten-free if you ask! There is nothing better than ordering dishes that are unique, delicious and naturally gluten-free. Enjoy!
