Duck’s Eatery is the quintessential East Village restaurant. The atmosphere is homey, warm, and welcoming, and the owners are always visible making them East Village celebrities. The best part about Duck’s is that not only are their dishes nobread friendly, but they are inventive and just plain delicious. I’m always amazed, too, at how nobread friendly Duck’s Eatery is, especially for a BBQ restaurant!..
I always start my Duck’s meals with the shrimp chips and the house pickles. The shrimp chips are great and their interesting texture and flavor is a delightful departure from typical restaurant appetizers. I also love anything pickled, so ordering the house pickles is a no brainer for me! The different vegetables come in an adorable mason jar and the house pickles taste awesome; the vinegar is not too overpowering. As for the entrees, I am not kidding when I say the smoked little neck clams are some of the best clams I’ve had in my life. The broth is so different from anything I’ve ever had before. It’s thicker and much more flavorful; I could lick the bowl! Another nobread approved dinner item I recommend is the smoked duck salad; a nice healthy option for all the duck fans out there. Although I have not been to Duck’s for brunch, the menu looks amazing and there are plenty of gluten free options I need to try! The smoked brisket hash with purple potato, red onion, hatch chili, and fried egg are screaming my name… and do I see maple sweet potato home fries on the menu?? I’m sold.
Great atmosphere, and even better food; Duck’s Eatery is an absolute must try in my book. Not only is the service great, but the owners are welcoming and very friendly, and the staff is very knowledgeable of the ingredients in the food. I highly recommend sharing dishes amongst friends, because you are going to want to try a bunch of items from the menu. Whether it is to grab a bite with some friends or recommend for my next date, I definitely will be back to Duck’s Eatery soon!
