Los Angeles is known for their Mexican cuisine, so believe me when I say that there are taco shops and Mexican restaurants on every corner. With each one trying to one up the next for the title of best guacamole, margaritas, tacos, and more, it can be hard to have a favorite Mexican spot! Well, I think I have a contender for best tacos. Escuela Taqueria, located right on Beverly Blvd in Fairfax, is adorable, authentic, and delicious!…
What makes Escuela stand out from the rest of the restaurants in the area is their authenticity and how NOBREAD-friendly they are! All tacos are gluten free except for the langostino tacos as the langostino tail is fried in batter, and the only section of the menu that is completely off-limits is the burrito section. This means the chips and guacamole, tostadas, and salads are fair game, too! The chips and guac at Escuela are awesome, and the chips are fried separately from the battered langostino tail so there is no cross contamination! My favorite taco is the branzino taco. I don’t think I’ve had branzino in a taco before! I subbed out the chipotle crema for guacamole and it was incredibly flavorful and delicious. I am told the shrimp tacos are awesome, too, and that is what I will be ordering on my next visit.
Escuela is small, and you genuinely feel as though you are dining in a local Mexican taqueria. The food is 100% natural and no artificial ingredients are used. The restaurant prides itself on its vegetarian and gluten free options, and I appreciate the care and attention they take to accomodating all kinds of diners. Escuela is definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants I have been to here in LA, and I can’t wait to go back again soon!
