If you’re looking for farm-to-table cuisine in an upscale restaurant, you’re in luck! Estate Restaurant opened only a couple weeks ago in Santa Monica and it is a beautiful and intimate space. Best of all, their globally inspired menu has many delicious gluten free options…
I went to dinner at Estate last night and was transported to a magical “Estate of Mind” where each dish was prepared like a work of art. All of the plating was intricately designed and visually stunning. But nothing compared to the taste. My favorite dish by far was the Double Pork Chop “Heluka” – a pork chop so tender it melted in my mouth. AND it was wrapped in bacon!! I can say, without a doubt, this was the best pork chop I have ever eaten. The pork chop was served over a roasted kabocha pumpkin mash that was really tasty. My table also enjoyed the daily farmers market selection (Brussel Sprouts, Sweet Potatoes, & Queso Fresco) – I love how the restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients from that day’s farmer’s market – you can’t get fresher than that. They also have an amazing variety of appetizers that made my mouth water when reading the menu. If you are gluten-free and vegan, I highly recommend the Pad Thai! Just ask for it to be made both ways. Although I usually opt for shrimp in my Pad Thai, I ordered it with tofu as my friend is vegan. Some of their GF options include the Lollipop Kale, Crispy Skin Salmon, and french fries. Estate is also known for their creative cocktails – I tried the “Dew Process” which tasted like a lavender lemonade. And do not forget to save room for dessert! Not only does Estate have a selection of sorbets, they also have a Warm Flourless Chocolate “Souffle” Cake that is to die for.
I am so glad Estate Restaurant is open in Santa Monica and I definitely want to come back to try their other entrees and seasonally changing dishes!
